Tea - decorative painter with a master's degree.

The master's certificate is the highest proof of professional skill in a craft profession. Tea Nymark at @nydecosthlm “got” her master's certificate in 2017 and we had the opportunity to follow her work for a few hours.

A few weeks ago we visited her when she was renovating a previously boring staircase in Stockholm's inner city. When we stepped into the staircase and saw both the old and the new appearance, it was almost as if she had waved a magic wand. Tea is not only a painter but also a decorative painter.

Tea says that staircases have become her specialty and she draws inspiration from other, unspoiled staircases in the same neighborhood where the original style has been preserved. The ceiling painting she is doing resembles one from the house next door and the doors have been given a beautiful grain painting. In addition to a steady hand, a strong neck and good balance are required. And of course an eye for color and shape. Some other clients that prove her skill include Oscarsteatern, The city house and Nalen.

In 2006, Tea graduated from St. Martin's High School and after completing her apprentice diploma exam, she began studying decorative painting and design at PalmFineArts in Norrköping.

Decorative painting is truly a craft and you have to master many different techniques such as lasering, graining and marbling. And Tea really does that!!
