Presentation Ava - part 3/4
OPEROSE |17/01, 2024

We continue our series on the AVA work pants by diving deeper into details and features.
Have you noticed the small loops on the sides of the knees on AVA? They’re not just there as knee embellishments—they serve a purpose. They are attached with bar tacks, a compact zigzag stitch, at the edges and in the middle. This allows you to adjust the height of your knee pads, as the loops have two levels.
To find the right height for you, simply standing upright isn’t enough—you need to test it in a crouched position with your knee bent.
On the knee pad pocket, which is made from the same durable stretch material as the pants, there are elastic loops with an elongated, custom-made button at the end. You insert the narrow part of the button into the loop, then twist it into place, ensuring a secure fit.
This solution was probably the most demanding in terms of brainstorming and testing different button designs. We experimented with various shapes using polymer clay and ultimately settled on the elongated shape we have today.
We have chosen this knee pad solution for (almost) all our pants because we find it incredibly convenient, and it’s one of the features we receive the most positive feedback on. It makes attaching and replacing the knee pads easier if the knees wear out.
Additionally, you don’t have to pay for knee pads if you don’t need them, and we avoid wasting resources on something unnecessary. However, the biggest advantage is probably that when it’s really muddy or dirty and you need to work on your knees, you can simply detach the muddy knee pads and wash them separately!
