Portrait Ava - part 2/4

Yesterday, we promised a closer look at our AVA model. As we mentioned then, this model was developed in collaboration with a focus group made up of professionals from various industries. Among them were a carpenter, a gardener, a preschool teacher, and an elevator technician, all of whom shared their requests for features and details they wanted in a work pant.
The focus group first highlighted the most obvious and fundamental need—a work pant that provides space for hips and seat while fitting properly at the often narrower waist. In other words, a work pant designed for a curvy, female-shaped body, rather than a straight-cut men's pant that ends up being both too big and too small in all the wrong places.
Beyond the basics, the group also discussed the need for an adjustable waist so the pants would fit regardless of where they were in their menstrual cycle. This led us to incorporate stretch around the seat and waist. Naturally, it made sense to extend the stretch to the knees as well, increasing flexibility since the stretch material was already being produced and sourced!
Another request was for the pants to be versatile and have flexible details. They needed to make it easy to go straight from work to preschool or the store and quickly detach the tool pockets to avoid carrying around sharp or heavy items. That’s why we designed removable pockets that you can take off and leave on a car seat or hang on a hook at work
.
At the same time, the idea of detachable, external knee pads was born! In addition to being practical in different situations, this solution is also more sustainable.
We’ll be diving deeper into all these features, along with a few other details, in upcoming posts—so stay tuned! 😊
