Moa - carpentry and carving
OPEROSE |28/04, 2022

Award-winning Moa Brännström Ott ( @moaott ) discovered that wood was her element as a teenager. It was at the craft high school that Moa discovered that she had a natural talent for handling shape and wood.
– All I thought about was that I had to do something that I found fun in order to be able to continue my studies. That's why I applied to a craft high school that focused on shape and design. The discovery of her talent gave her both self-confidence and energy. Moa says that it is the feeling in wood that is special. She never tires of delving into it because it is an almost limitless material.
.
"There are always new challenges and there is always something new to learn. Just imagine, you can carve a little old man or build an entire house from the same material." Moa's curiosity for the material is clear. Moa's repertoire is broad. Custom-designed furniture, commissions to create prototypes, implementing other artists' visions and her own free creativity.
Moa only sees opportunities in being a woman in the industry and believes that it is an advantage to stand out. "I have actively chosen not to niche myself, but have always explored new paths, commissions and transcendent collaborations." Moa holds carving courses for small groups, companies, bachelorette parties or a group of friends who just want to get together and socialize in other ways. In the summers, she also holds courses at the well-regarded Capellagården on Öland.
She is also an author. So for anyone who wants to learn more about carving, we can highly recommend her books, "Trä: Snickerihandbok för inredning och odling" and "Tälja köksredskap". She currently has no no plans for a new books. Moa is instead on parental leave and is looking forward to starting the renovation of the newly purchased farm in Västernorrland.
– But you never know…
